A well presented 32ft:1in. scale model of the Liberty ship M.V. St. Helena (ex Samloyal, 1944)
modelled by R.A. Wilson, with masts, radio aerial, anchors, anchor winches, fairleads, water deflector, ventilators, covered hatches, derricks, companionways, superstructure details include bridge with open bridge over, funnel, water tank, deck lights, four lifeboats in davits, deck rails and other details. The hull with rudder and four-blade brass propeller is finished in green, grey and red and mounted on two turned brass columns within a wood bound glazed display case with legend. Overall measurements -- 6 x 19½in. (15 x 49.5cm.) Wooden carry case

Lot Essay

Built in 1944 as the Samloyal she was bought by the South American Saint Line, renamed St. Helena and served until scrapped in 1962.
