by Alexandre-Raoul Morel (fl. 1833-1850), marked, with the third standard mark for gold, Paris, 1838-1919, struck with inventory number 954, the miniature by François Meuret (1800-1887)
Rectangular box with rounded corners and tapering baluster sides, the cover centred by an oval portrait miniature of Louis-Philippe of Orléans (1773-1850), King of the French 1830-1848, in military uniform decorated with the sash, badge and breast-star of the Royal French Order of the Legion of Honour and the badge of the Royal Belgian Order of Leopold, in a gold frame surrounded by silver-mounted old-mine cut diamonds, on a sablé panel cast with intertwined scrolling foliage, the sides with panels of engine-turning framed by latticework, flowers and scrolls
