mark of Simon-Achille Léger, Paris, 1819-1838
Oblong, the cover inset with an Italian micromosaic of a hen and her chicks, on a grassy ground, with a dark brown background, with gold arrowhead border, the base with engine-turned panel surrounded by a chased border of vari-coloured flowers and leaves, the sides with stylized acanthus with flowers at the angles, and upper border of vari-coloured rose and leaf garland, the grille bright-cut with flowers, scrolling foliage and a pineapple, marked inside base, on side and indistinctly inside cover
