An enamelled and pearl-set gold vinaigrette
probably Swiss, circa 1850, unmarked
Formed as a scarab, enamelled in blue and black, with pearl borders to the wings, gold wirework legs, and cabochon eyes, the underside realistically chased and engraved, with chased foliate border and foliate scroll grille, suspended from an enamelled tubular link and pearl chain from a ring formed as a coiled serpent set with pearls and cabochons
