Lot Essay

The reeded chair, with its scroll-pedimented tablet, reflects the George IV robust Grecian style illustrated in T. King's Modern Style of Cabinet Work Exemplified, 1829. The firm of Telford & Sanders may have succeeded the firm of Sanders & Jones, which was trading in Birmimgham in the mid-19th Century.
