No VAT will be charged on the hammer price, but VA… Read more The following five lots were designed by the Dutch Avant-Garde sculptor Jo Uiterwaal for his personal use and in anticipation of his marraige in 1929, and were executed by his brother, Cees, the noted cabinetmaker. Both brothers enjoyed an intimate friendship with Gerrit Rietveld, and with other members of the De Stijl and Nieuwe Beelding groups. The geometric abstraction and colour harmonies explicit in these lots are consistent with ideals of the Dutch Avant Garde of the 1920s.
