Small 4o (203 x 161 mm). (Some browning and foxing.) Contemporary red morocco gilt by the Samuel Mearne bindery FOR CHARLES II, covers with double-fillet border, spine in six compartments with five raised bands, gilt-lettered in one, the other compartments with the crowned Royal cypher in the center, edges gilt (hinges weak, some light wear and soiling, gilt somewhat faded); slipcase.

Provenance: Charles II, King of England (1630-1685) (binding, shelf ticket "236" on front pastedown); early manuscript table of contents on rear flyleaf; Estelle Doheny (morocco bookplate, accompanying typed description; Christie's New York, 18 October 1989, lot 1473).
