Circa 1750, the mount unmarked
Painted after Watteau with gallants and companions in landscape vignettes on all sides and on the convex bottom, the cover scene within a rocaille-moulded cartouche, the interior painted with two soldiers and their companions relaxing at the edge of a military encampment, the contemporary mount chased with entwined ribbon and garland, the thumbpiece with flowers
