Penfolds, Grange Hermitage--Vintage 1971
Barrosa Valley
Levels: one into neck, two bottom neck and one just below top shoulder
"Notes, all good, first on my original visit to Australia in 1977, dining with Len Evans: opaque; packed, peppery; huge, velvety-in retrospect a cross between Latour and Pétrus. Two more recently: deep, rich, 'thick'-high extract; high alcohol pepperiness but sweet, good fruit, great depth, after an hour perfect, like a mature Latour. Great wine." GVWB
