A BERLIN (K.P.M.) RECTANGULAR PLAQUE 'VIRGIN OF CONSOLATION'
Late 19th/early 20th century, impressed monogram and sceptre marks, various cyphers, signed Wagner
Painted after Bouguereau with the Madonna draped in blue, her hands raised, with a grieving maiden stretched across her lap, a child sprawled at their feet, the reverse inscribed 'anno 1528.'
9 7/8 x 7 3/8in. (25 x 19cm.), within giltwood and gesso frame
