Lot Essay

See Michael Messenger, Coalport, Suffolk, 1995, p. 379-380, for a discussion on the relationship of Boullemier and T.J. Bott. Antonin Boullemier, a 'figure painter of high repute', was known primarily for his work at Minton between 1872-1900. It is presumed that through a relation with T.J. Bott that his work was commissioned by Coalport solely in the years 1890-92.
