A FRENCH BRASS FINIAL
19th Century
Mounted later on a lamp base in the form of a cockerel one leg raised on a sphere the other on a torch with wings spread, raised on an Ionic column, chased with the words Libertéi to the front and Ordre Public to the reverse raised on a later walnut and ebonised plinth bearing a brass plaque inscribed le coq de Drapeau Garde National Marquis de Lafayette Gééal en Chef, with raised brass lamp fitting to the reverse and cream shade.
