Eduardo Kingman shared many preoccupations with the artists of his generation. Not only was his work significantly influenced by Diego Rivera and the Mexican Muralists, but like many of his peers, he was also deeply affected by the ideals and consequences of the Spanish Civil War. The present lot was painted in the year of the tragic war's end and commemorates the struggle of those who perished in the fight.
