A VILLANOVAN BRONZE HORSE BIT
Circa 8th-7th Century B.C.
The bit composed of two lengths of twisted wire terminating in spirals joined to rings, both cheek-pieces cast in the form of a horse with a colt on its back, between the legs, another colt facing backwards and a duck, the horse with cresting mane between high pointed ears, the muzzle bulging, flattened at the end, with rings below the fore- and hind-hooves
