The 18k gold filigree pen, enhanced by red enamel, on a black ground, the cap with a polished cartouche for engraving, the clip with circular-cut diamond terminal, the gold nib engraved with a stylised Babylonian lion, 1996, 15.0 cm., with Swiss assay marks, in its original Montblanc fitted case

Lot Essay

This pen was created in 1996 to celebrate princess Sammuramat, better known as Semiramis, who was famous for her beauty and also for her courage. After the death of her husband, she ruled Assyria and Babylon.
