Lot Essay

Nicholson first met Mrs Ada Pringle (1880-1950) in 1906 when she enquired about a portrait commission. Marguerite Steen in her biography of Nicholson makes several references to the enduring friendship that developed, and it was with Ada Pringle that Nicholson first visited Spain in 1933.
