A George III papier mache tea caddy, late 18th century
Attributed to Henry Clay
Of oval outline, the light green ground painted with paterae and trailing foliage within anthemion borders, inset to the front and reverse with oval cameos of classical subjects, either wax or paste, with silver loop handle and gilt metal rim to the interior
5¾in. (14.6cm.) high overall, 5in. (12.7cm.) wide, 2 7/8in. (7.4cm.) deep
