Lot Essay

The tourbillon was invented in 1795 by celebrated watchmaker Abraham-Louis Breguet. He wrote that the purpose of the tourbillon was, "to remove through compensation the errors due to positional differences in the centers of gravity".

The present lot demonstrates Breguet's ability to incorporate the technological and aesthetic achievements of their founder.
