Small 8° (161 x 95mm.), full-page woodcut portrait of Gelli on verso of title, with the blank +8 (occasional light spotting), 19th-century gold-sprinkled calf, gilt tooled border on sides, flat spine lavishly decorated in gilt, black morocco lettering-piece (very lightly rubbed), g.e.
Third edition of Gelli's philosophical dialogues; it follows two unauthorised editions which greatly offended Gelli. Torrentino used the block of Gelli's portrait for the first time in 1548, in the present work and in Gelli's Sopra un luogo di Dante, nel xvi. canto del Purgatorio. Brunet II, 1520; Gamba 488: 'Rarissima'.
