Uniform green morocco gilt by Riviere and Son of ca. 1900, covers with triple gilt fillet borders, spines with raised bands in six compartments, lettered in two, and dated at foot, the other compartments decorated with central floral tool and foliate corner pieces, gilt turn-ins, top edges gilt, most volumes with ORIGINAL CLOTH COVERS OR ORIGINAL WRAPPERS PRESERVED at rear (spines faded to brown, some light rubbing and scuff marks). AN IMPRESSIVE SET OF BOTH THE GREAT AND THE MORE MINOR WORKS, which includes the early rarities Poems by Two Brothers, "Timbuctoo," and Poems, Chiefly Lyrical, and is, in fact, even larger than the 22-volume set of Tennyson first editions, also bound by Riviere, sold as lot 747 in the William Foyle sale, 12 July 2000.
