The print by Demarteau is inscribed 'Tiré du Cabinet de Madame d'Azaincourt'. Blondel d'Azaincourt (1719-1794), son of the collector Blondel de Gagny, was a major collector of Boucher's works. He had studied engraving with Hoüel and engraved drawings by Boucher en maniére de crayon, a technique that he was one of the first to use. In 1754 he became Intendant des Menus Plaisirs and Garde des Pierreries de la Couronne.
Blondel d'Azaincourt sold his collection in 1783 which included at least one hundred works by Boucher. There are more than one hundred prints recording works that belonged to him.
