An ivory pestle and mortar
17th Century
the mortar of slightly waisted cylindrical form, carved in relief with a band of dragons above a further band of phoenix among flowering trees, between bands of lotus petals, the pestle with two bands of geometric stud motifs between lotus petals, with rounded ends -- the mortar 4½in. (11.4cm.) high, the pestle 7in. (17.8cm.) long, (minute chips and age cracks).
