A SHIRIZAYA NO TACHI KOSHIRAE [SET OF FITTINGS FOR A TACHI]
Mid-Late Edo Period (Late 18th/Early 19th Century)
With yellow and black fur applied to the lower part, the upper part wrapped in blue woven tapes, the remainder of the scabbard of gold nashiji ['pearskin' lacquer]; tsuka [hilt] covered in silk brocade wrapped in blue woven silk tapes forming a lozenge pattern; the metal fittings all shakudo nanako [copper-gold alloy worked with a granulated ground] worked in relief and gilding with kiri-mon [paulownia crests]; stencilled leather hanging tapes
