Lot Essay

Paul Sormani (b. 1817) is recorded as having worked at 10 Rue Charlot in 1867 and participated in the Expositions universelles in 1849, 1855 and 1867, being awarded medals at each. He is known for his interpretations of fine French furniture in the Louis XV and XVI styles. Cf. D. Ledoux-Lebard, Les Ébénistes du XIXe Siècle, 1984, p.588.
