Further details
Sold with this purse is a note indicating that the purse was supposed to have belonged to Prince Charles Edward's (Bonnie Prince Charlie's) mother. This would tie in with the monogram (her name was Maria Casimire Clementina Sobieska) but the style of the purse would seem to indicate that it is of an earlier date (Queen Clementina lived between 1702-1735).

G Saville Seligman and Talbot Hughes illustrate a similar purse on plate XII of Domestic Needlework, Country Life 1926, which is dated 1640-80.
