The rounded rectangular twin-flap top with leaf-carved edge above two frieze drawers to each side, on turned entasis-column supports and leaf-carved moulded bases with countersunk castors

Lot Essay

A rosewood writing-table with similar gadrooned edge was sold anonymously, in these Rooms, 15 June 2000, lot 104 (£9,400 inc. premium). The base of the latter table was an elaborately carved model of which two similar tables were supplied by Gillows to William Powlett, 2nd Baron Bolton (d. 1850), for Hackwood Park, Hampshire, and sold from the estate of the 2nd Viscount Camrose, Hackwood Park, Christie's house sale, 20-22 April 1998, lot 49 (£16,100 inc. premium) and lot 50 (£23,000 inc. premium).
