A set of ten walnut dining chairs, 1st half 20th century
in the Queen Anne style, including two armchairs, each with a stepped toprail above a curved vase shaped splat flanked at either side by rounded stiles, the slip-in seat with shaped apron rail on cabriole legs with pad feet joined by ring-turned and block stretchers, stamped to the rail 'GILL & REIGATE'

Lot Essay

Gill & Reigate are noted in British Furniture 1880-1915 by Pauline Agius, Baron Publishing, 1978, P.146. They claimed C.1910 to "have the largest stock of genuine antiques in London" and that "particular attention has been given to reproductions".
