Lot Essay

This is one of two experimental proofs struck with a satin finish, and the only specimen of this design. Valcambi eventually minted all the regular cu-ni coinage for the Solomon Islands in 2000 with a full proof surface. As a first striking for the series the coin also bears error italic obverse script. Sold with Valcambi certificate.
