A Victorian Officer's Dirk of the 78th Highlanders (Ross-Shire Buffs)

With fullered, notch-backed blade (some discolouration and minor pitting), etched on both sides with regimental number and motto, elephant and battle-honours, carved and studded bog-oak grip, the lower part depicting crossed swords behind a feather bonnet, and gilt-brass mounts bearing chased thistle decoration and foiled glass (?) pommel, in black leather scabbard, the gilt-brass mounts also bearing chased decoration, the chape of acanthus form, the two middle bands containing small knife and fork, both with gilt-mounted glass pommels
