A 15-Bore Turkish Miquelet-Lock Wall Piece
Circa 1800
With heavy swamped twist octagonal sighted barrel in three stages cut with seven grooves and retained by two engraved silver bands (one replaced), the upper side of the breech incised with a panel of gilt strapwork enclosing an indistinct maker's stamp, shaped standing back-sight pierced with nine holes, characteristic lock with filed details and silver-lined maker's stamp of 'Omar...' (jaw-screw incomplete), walnut full stock (chipped in front of the lock) inlaid with silver wire and engraved silver panels, most of them pierced, faceted butt inlaid with a small panel punched with signature of 'Abu Bakr', figured walnut butt-plate, iron button trigger, green-stained horn fore-end cap (chipped), and original iron-tipped ramrod
