BETTE DAVIS SCRIPT, NOTES AND COSTUME FROM "WICKED STEPMOTHER"
MGM, 1989
A collection of items related to the last film Bette Davis ever made consisting of her working script, handwritten notes and a black two-piece lingerie set. Sadly, Miss Davis was not happy with this project and she walked off the set before the movie was finished. The nine pages of included notes are penned on a yellow legal pad (some in Davis' hand, some in another hand) and indicate how she was feeling about "Wicked Stepmother:" Can not continue this film...being made a puppet...the atmosphere of set for which director is responsible for is one of conspiracy...have been robbed of script approval... among other very valid complaints. An article about Larry Cohen, director of "Wicked Stepmother," is also included with the rest of the notes and has Miss Davis' handwritten comment of Please read!!! Gawd! B.D. penned along the top margin. This picture was eventually completed, but to explain the absence of Miss Davis from the last scenes, her character of Miranda was turned into a cat!
