SCRAPBOOK FROM "THE WOMEN"
MGM, 1939
A oversized scrapbook compiled by Jack Greenwood filled with dozens of original print black and white stills, premiere programs, newspaper clippings and magazine articles related to the all-time classic chick flick. Also included is a copy of a 'censorship letter' addressed to Louis B. Mayer dated June 8, 1939 which outlines some now very funny 'objectionable' script passages that needed to be changed: Scene 89X1, Page 150: We suggest that you substitute the word "friendship" for the word "affair" and Scenes 95...these are the scenes in the Ladies' Dressing Room on the Casino Roof. You will be careful not, at any time, to show any toilets. We also think the scenes of several women, walking in and out of the dressing room should not point up the fact that they are going to the toilet. Such a suggestion, in our judgement, is very offensive and in very bad taste.
