A late 20th-Century 22-inch diameter "bar" globe,
made in Italy for export, 1960's, made up of two sets of twenty brightly coloured chromolithographed gores after Willem Janszoon Blaeu, with graduated equatorial, colures and ecliptic, numerous descriptive cartouches and pictures of people, animals, ships and other subjects, mountains shown in pictorial relief, and other decorative features, with papered meridian circle with brass finial and horizon ring, on a wooden stand with four barley-twist columns supporting the horizon, the base-plate with baluster turned meridian support and papered compass rose, on four castors, the meridian hinged to raise the northern hemisphere to reveal on the interior a liquor bar with pierced wooden storage areas for bottles and accoutrements, and with ice tongs, ice box, double measurer, bottle opener with wooden duck-bill handle and other items, the base with applied paper depicting a dionysian scene of excess, the interior of the northern hemisphere laid with a set of twenty half gores showing various figures and crests (some minor paper loss to various areas) -- 44in.
