A FINE CELADON-GLAZED MOULDED DOUBLE-GOURD VASE
IMPRESSED QIANLONG SEAL MARK AND OF THE PERIOD

Both globular sections moulded with lush fruiting double-gourd vines with five-pointed leaves and curling tendrils, under a very even celadon-glaze of pale green tones, the base countersunk resting on a broad unglazed foot ring (minor knocks to glaze surface)--12in. (30.5cm.) high

Lot Essay

A pair of similar vases, but with underglaze-blue Qianlong seal marks, were included in the Exhibition, Monochrome Ceramics of the Ming and Qing Dynasties, Hong Kong Museum of Art, 1977, Catalogue, no. 76, p. 72; a white glazed double-gourd vase moulded with dragons with an impressed Qianlong seal mark to the base in The Palace Museum, Taibei, was included in the Special Exhibition, Dragon Motif Porcelain, 1983, Catalogue, no. 66
