A VERY RARE PEACHBLOOM WATER COUPE, PINGGUOZUN
KANGXI SIX-CHARACTER MARK AND OF THE PERIOD

The globular body rising to a compressed shoulder and lipped rim, covered overall with a mottled glaze of pale blush and mushroom tone with patches of moss green (body and footring polished)--3½in. (9cm.) diam.

A waterpot of this shape is illustrated as one of the eight peachbloom objects for the scholar's table, all from the Metropolitan Museum of Art, in Sekai Toji Zenshu, Shogakukan Series, vol. 15, no. 27; another such peachbloom waterpot of a greener tone from the Percival David Foundation is included in the same volume as nos. 24 and 25
