A VERY RARE SET OF FIVE YIXING TEACUPS
17TH/18TH CENTURY, IMPRESSED CHEN MINGYUAN SEAL MARKS

Each finely potted libation cup of differing form, the first a deep flower set on four ruyi feet with an archaistic phoenix handle; the second rounded with two bulging eyes resembling a carp with a small toad handle; the third an archaistic bird standing on two feet, the squared reticulated tail feathers forming the handle; the fourth a tripod of compressed form with 'drum nail' bosses and a dragon handle; the last of archaic bronze inspiration, with raised bands and a chilong handle, each with an impressed makers mark to the base --each approximately 3 3/4in. (9.5cm.) wide, fitted hardwood dragon box (5)
