Lot Essay

This rare and beautiful pattern is accompanied by an envelope from Alvaro de Salles Oliveira, a coin dealer from São Paulo, Brazil. The envelope gives such information (all in Portuguese) as monarch, value, date, metal, and other pertinent facts, and calls the piece "muito raro (very rare)." The envelope traces the coin's pedigree from the collection of one A. Solano de Barros, and states the date of acquisition as September, 1931.
