Lot Essay

Henri Nelson is recorded as having worked at Boulevard Haussmann in 1879. Cf. D. Ledoux-Lebard, Les Ébénistes du XIXe Siècle, 1984, p. 508.

The offered lot is undoubtedly inspired by Jacque Dubois, maitre 1772. A comprable model is illustrated in Hachette, French Cabinet Makers of the Eighteenth Century, 1965, p. 104, plate I.
