Modelled as seated Hotei wearing an eboshi and in robes patterned with gold clouds and floral diaperwork, his treasure sack behind his back of black lacquer dusted with silver and gold and ornamented with gold lacquer 'stitching', the opening of the bag clutched in the figure's right hand silver with a large Buddhist jewel stopper, the body lacquered in reddish-brown and the base roiro and nashiji; both cap and jewel constructed as stoppers to the flask, the jewel fitted with a silver terminal--10½in. (26.7cm.) high
