AN UNUSUAL BLUE AND WHITE LOBED JAR AND COVER
JIAJING FOUR-CHARACTER MARK IN UNDERGLAZE BLUE AND OF THE PERIOD

The quadrilobed, baluster body painted in deep inky tones of underglaze blue with a wide band of scrolling peony branches issuing from each of the four petal-shaped reserves on the shoulder, filled with lotus scroll surrounding a shou character, the short neck encircled by a narrow band of alternating prunus and peony blossoms on a scrolling vine and with a band of petal lappets above the foot, the cover painted with peony sprays alternating with fu characters below a slightly raised platform decorated with fruiting vine surrounding the squirrel finial

No other published examples of this kind of jar appear to exist
