The lower body painted in brown on a white slip with a wide band of waves set between a band of leaf tips below and a band of concentric lines on the neck, all between broad linear borders and under a clear glaze

Lot Essay

The stylized wave pattern found on this vase was a favoured motif of the Jizhou potters and was executed in varying styles, as seen on the small bottle vase and censer, illustrated by Regina Krahl, Chinese Ceramics in the Meiyintang Collection, vol. 1, London, 1994, p. 281, nos. 522 and 523
