Lot Essay

Aside from 61 located impressions, Van Heugten and Pabst cite documents in the Van Gogh Musuem suggesting the existence of four additional examples of this print. Christie's sale of a previously unrecorded example from the Collection of John Wesley Warrington on Nov. 6, 1996 (Lot 309, $63,000) could account for one of these; the present lot could be another.
