A WILLIAM IV SOUP TUREEN AND COVER, by Edward Farrell, London, 1831 In the Geroge II taste, of oval bombe form on four paw feet headed by lion masks and entwined by lion tails, with two foliage-clad double scroll handles, the sides elaborately chased with foliage and flowerheads within scrolls on a matted ground, enclosing asymetrical scroll and rocaille cartouches, the domed cover with conforming decoration and artichoke finial, marked on base, cover, finial and nut -- length over handles 14 ¾ in. (37.5 cm.) long (108 oz.)
