AN APULIAN RED-FIGURE BELL-KRATER
circa mid 4th century b.c.
The A-side with a winged nude Eros walking right, wearing sandals and a dotted band on his right thigh, a laurel branch in his right hand, a fillet in his left hand, a fillet in added white with ivy leaves hanging from the branch, and to his right a maenad walking right but looking left, a dotted wreath with two fillets in her right hand, a thyrsos in her left, the B-side with two standing draped youths, the figure to the left with a staff, palmettes below the handles, a band of maeander with dotted cross-squares below the scene, a band of laurel below the rim
