Engraved British uniform buckle or chevron, circa 1780, American War of Independence, brass, oval, 483.1 grains, 47 mm. horizontal, by 64 mm. vertical, obv., engraved crown atop fanciful engraved and entwined GR (GEORGIVS REX), rev., plain with hook and two buttons, no doubt for attachment to a belt or strap, extremely fine and quite nice overall
