A REGENCY SILVER TOASTED-CHEESE DISH
LONDON, 1816, MAKER'S MARK OF PAUL STORR

Of oblong form, on four ball feet, with an elaborate border of grapevine and baskets of foliage, the hinged domed cover chased with a band of dentilation and applied with an anthemion thumbpiece, the wooden handle unscrewing to reveal the hot-water compartment, fitted with a removable liner, the cover engraved with a coat-of-arms, helm and motto against drapery mantling, the interior, side and line each with two crests, marked on base, cover and liner -- 12¼ in. wide (31.1 cm.)

Lot Essay

The arms are those of Parker impaling those of Brooke, for Robert Townley Parker of Cuerden Hall, born in 1793. He married in 1816 Harriet, youngest daughter of Thomas Brooke of Church Minshull, Chester. He was High Sheriff of Lancashire in 1817 and MP for Preston from 1837 to 1857. He died in 1879.
