This horn appears to have been carved by the Lake George/Lake Champlain School. Fort Number 4 was located at Charlestown, New Hampshire, on the Connecticut River. For a discussion of this school see William H. Guthman, "Powder Horns of the French and Indian War, 1755-1763," Antiques (August, 1978), pp. 312-331.
