A GEORGE III FOUR-PIECE COMPOSITE SILVER TEA-SERVICE, all London, with maker's mark of: the teapot, 1797, Peter & Ann Bateman; the teapot stand, 1787, John Crouch & Thomas Hannam, the sugar-basket, 1777, John Wakelin & William Taylor, and the cream-jug (initialled), 1800, maker's mark worn, each with applied reeded rims, the teapot straight sided oval, with straight spout, wood scroll handle, the hinged partly domed cover topped by wood oval finial, the stand oval, on four reeded tapering feet (erasure), the boat-shaped sugar-basket on oval pedestal foot with reeded overhead swing handle--the teapot 7in. (17.7cm.) high, gross weight 32oz.
