This painting which has been signed by the artist's sister Emily, will be included in Richard Ormond and Odile Duff's forthcoming catalogue raisonne of Sargent's work. According to the authors, this watercolor represents a mosaic pavement of the Cathedral of Montreale in Palermo, Sicily. Sargent was painting here in 1901.
