A LARGE EARTHENWARE VASE
MEIJI PERIOD (LATE 19TH CENTURY), SIGNED KINKOZAN

The baluster form vase decorated in delicate enamels and gilt with two large square panels of pheasants in a bamboo grove or small birds and tree peonies reserved on a ground of kikko-hanabishi in a taupe-colored glaze over-enamelled and gilt with phoenixes and sprays of paulownia, the foot and neck encircled by bands of further phoenixes and dense foliate scroll- 19 1/4 in. (48.9 cm.) high
